Beatriz Arnillas is a Senior Educational Advisor at itslearning and acts as a consultant for both our internal teams and customers interested in implementing learning-centered education. Previously, Beatriz was the Director of Education Technology for Houston Independent School District where she led the implementation of PowerUp, a district-wide blended learning initiative that continues to transform Houston’s teaching and learning practices, improving student engagement and end-of-course passing scores.
Beatriz earned degrees in Art and Education and had her first teaching position in Peru where she grew up. She migrated to the USA to complete a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Kentucky. Beatriz was an Artist-in-Residence in Kentucky public schools and a faculty member at Seton Hall University and Blinn College.
Beatriz’s interest in art, technology, and design led her to create one of the first blended learning Art History courses in the country. Most recently Beatriz led a massive digital content interoperability implementation in Houston, which yielded more than one and one-half million learning objects from 25 providers, searchable by standards and keywords within the itslearning library.
