New Individual Learning Plans

Additional notes for Administrators

For continuity it will be possible, on request, to use the old Individual Learning Plans until summer 2020, at which point only the new tool will be available.

ILP plans made in the old tool will be available for archiving/documentation purposes. Old plans can be found via a link in the detailed ILP page for each student.

Administrators can create unique templates based on organization/district needs that can be shared with teachers.

Risk assessment for the new ILP

The new ILP tool does not expose any more personal information than the old tool, nor does it expose more information to other users/roles than before. itslearning does not share ILP content outside the itslearning platform. ILPs could, however, be part of a process that includes sensitive information such as a student’s health issues. We do not recommend entering such information in itslearning. The risk related to dealing with sensitive information should be considered before the tool is used, and you should assess if there is a need for a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) for this feature, especially if you plan to change your current practice regarding the use of ILPs in the itslearning platform.

Test Mode Browser (TMB)

We have updated the Test mode browser (for all Test 2.0 and Test 3.0). We upgrade at regular intervals to ensure maximum security. There are no notable feature changes to the tool since the previous version used by itslearning.

· This means that after the release is rolled out, a new version will be required to run tests in Test Mode Browser on Windows and Mac. Users may update before the release is rolled out. The older versions will not be accepted after this release.

· The new version is numbered 2.0.5.01 (Windows, both student and lab versions) / 2.0.5.03 (Mac). This does not apply to Chromebook or iPad users – those are separate applications and are updated by Respondus directly.

Update to Set-Up of Attendance Managers in Attendance Lite for Higher Education

On profiles and policies, administrators can now configure attendance management on a school level, ensuring that attendance managers only have access to courses in schools they are teachers or administrators in.

Improved overview for Attendance managers

The overview page showing courses has been improved for attendance managers, to enhance the certainty that teachers are taking attendance on a regular basis.

Improvements include:

· A new ”Attendance taken percentage” that indicates how up-to-date the teacher is with taking attendance (based on the Lessons given vs Lessons tracked)

· Sorting on all columns, sorted by default on the name of the course

· Paging to reach all the courses the attendance manager can view (will only be displayed if there are more than 100 courses in the list)

Attendance export updates

The attendance export has been updated with the following changes:

· Organization Title (Added)

· Organization Sync Key (Added)

· Total minutes given RENAMED to ”Registered attendance”

· Events until now (Added) which shows the minutes for events until now

This will help the attendance manager analyze the absence in more detail. The Events until now was added to indicate the accuracy of the ”Absence Percentage”, by relating ”Events until now” with ”Registered attendance”. A big difference in these numbers will indicate that not all events have

been correctly registered (e.g. only 3 out of 24 events have been tracked), which will give an inaccurate absence percentage.

Date of ”Last logon” Improved and Takes Account of Mobile App Usage

The ”Last logon” value is displayed for administrators when viewing the list of users in ”User and access rights”. We have had several complaints about this not being updated in all cases, and after some investigation we have found the main cause and changed how this value is updated. In addition to web login we now also display the last logon or token refresh from the mobile app. The authorization token is refreshed every hour when the app is in use, and every time the app is reopened. This means that ”Last logon” now will be much more accurate, taking mobile app activity into account.

’Cours’ in French is now ’Espace de travail’

In R108 we changed the translation of ’course’ for French Higher Ed from ’cours’ to ’espace de travail’. In this release we have replaced ’cours’ with ’espace de travail for K12 as well.

Ziggeo update

Our version of Ziggeo is updated to the newest stable version (v2.33.4). This will remove the console warning that we are on a pre-release version.

Other Technical Updates

· In the assignment tool, the buttons ’Submit’ and ’Save as draft’ now have tooltips to further clarify their purpose.

· OrgAPI method for creating links (Create.Extension.Instance Link) is extended with the option to set if the link should be embedded or not. By default, links are embedded. Only https links can be embedded.

· Security improvement: Error and information messages coming from external LTI tools will now be more clearly marked as not originating from itslearning.

· If ”Last visit” column is disabled for a course, the last visit date will now also be hidden in the mobile app (change in API, does not rely on mobile app release).

· Improved handling of Google drive access when tokens have expired or the account is disconnected.
