Starting in the fall of 2015, the Oslo County school district will be using itslearning as its new learning platform. Oslo County is Norway’s largest school district; comprised of approximately 171 schools, 80,000 students and 12,000 employees. According to county representatives, itslearning’s platform conforms well to the requirements and user needs of Oslo County schools and will provide school staff, students and parents with an effective, user-friendly ICT solution.
The decision to choose itslearning was reached after an extensive evaluation of vendors by representatives from various Oslo County schools and the Oslo Education Agency. In an article announcing the decision to school employees, itslearning was described as “the best platform in both quality and price.” The article continues, “itslearning delivers a well-documented, well-tested solution which meets the needs of Oslo schools while maintaining best practices for operations, maintenance and information security. The platform integrates well with other systems and existing teaching resources. It supports pedagogical practises such as planning and implementing teaching, as well as monitoring, reporting and assessment.” The contract is for an initial six year period with an option to extend it with one plus one year.
