Boston, MA and Bergen, Norway – April 15, 2019 – itslearning, the learning platform used globally by over 7 million students and teachers, has won the 2019 EdTech Digest Cool Tool Award for best learning management system (LMS).

For nearly a decade, the distinguished EdTech Digest awards program has sought to highlight and celebrate the innovators, leaders, and trendsetters in education technology. The Cool Tool awards are presented to the best new, emerging, and established technology solutions for education. This year’s program featured over 50 different subcategories. In addition to the best LMS, categories included best video-based learning solutions, special needs/assistive technology solutions, emerging technologies, and college prep solutions.

“It is a great honor to be selected as an EdTech Digest Award finalist and then to be further honored as a winner in the LMS category,” said Arne Bergby, CEO of itslearning. “Our mission at itslearning is provide teachers with the right tools to meet their students’ learning needs. By providing teachers with a solution that helps maximize the use of their time and talent, we are able to help improve students’ learning outcomes on a broad scale. This honor confirms we are achieving that mission.”

With its differentiated approach, itslearning helps create more time for teaching and more opportunities for learning. The platform enables users to speed through daily tasks (e.g., they can make cloud-based assignment files for each learner with one click); automates administrative routines (e.g., student activity reporting and grade pass back to SIS); and gives teachers all their most important tools in one secure login. Additionally, the itslearning platform provides in-depth 360o insight on student progress, personalizes instruction for each learner while staying aligned to objectives, and encourages student autonomy by providing a searchable library of vetted content and numerous ways for self-guided learning.

“The itslearning LMS has innovated the way students learn in Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD), bringing agency and empowerment to our classrooms. We are thrilled that they are being recognized for the powerful tool they have created, said SBISD EdTech Facilitator, Krystal Weiss.

“Nearly a decade in, The EdTech Awards persists in its salute,” said Victor Rivero, who as Editor-in-Chief of EdTech Digest, oversees the program. “And nearly a decade in, the people driving edtech forward persist in their passion to improve learning. In an age of rapid technological change—innovators, leaders, and trendsetters are our greatest treasures. If our age is golden, they’re lighting the way.”
