itslearning is now the leading learning management system in higher education in Denmark.
Bergen, May 5, 2020 – University of Southern Denmark (SDU) has selected itslearning as their new learning management system following a rigorous tender process that involved several large and well-established LMS providers. Serving many of the major universities, itslearning is now the leading learning management system in higher education in Denmark.
This six-year contract with SDU, signed today, is for 45,000 user licenses. The university, which had previously been using Blackboard as its learning management system, is confident that the best system has been chosen. Ease of use was a very important factor in selecting itslearning considering the possibility of a prolonged period of remote learning across the education sector due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Selection process
The SDU selection process began early last year. It was a comprehensive evaluation undertaken by a select group made up of faculty members and the student body. They weighed the competing platforms against a range of criteria and itslearning was the clear winner in terms of user-friendliness and functionality, which were both high on the list. Furthermore, the university panel considered itslearning to be the most student-driven solution, and a good fit with the way they work and teach at SDU which focuses greatly on student-centred active learning.
itslearning is now the largest LMS provider in higher education in Denmark
itslearning already supports teaching and learning at University College Copenhagen, VIA University College, University College Lillebælt, University College Southern Denmark, University College Absalon and several other higher educational institutions in Denmark. With SDU on board, itslearning has now become the largest LMS provider in the higher education segment in that country.
Gunleiksrud added, “responding to the current surge in remote learning, itslearning has fast-tracked the integration of additional features, such MS Teams for live conferencing, to better provide online instruction which will be instrumental to institutions of higher education, especially in keeping students connected and engaged. Also, itslearning recently became ISO 27001 certified, which is yet another milestone in our commitment to data security. Having SDU join the itslearning family is added momentum for us to continue to build on our successes not just in Denmark, but across the globe.”
