Alan November, Senior Partner at November Learning

Alan November is an international leader in education technology. He began his career as an oceanography teacher and dorm counselor at an island reform school for boys in Boston Harbor. He has been director of an alternative high school, computer coordinator, technology consultant, and university lecturer. He has helped schools, governments and industry leaders improve the quality of education through technology.

Shelly Terrell, Author of ’The 30 Goals Challenge for Teachers’

Shelly is a teacher trainer, e-learning specialist, and the author of Hacking Digital Learning Strategies: 10 Ways to Launch EdTech Missions in Your Classroom, The 30 Goals Challenge for Teachers: Small Steps to Transform Your Teaching and Learning to Go: Lesson Ideas for Teaching with Mobile Devices, Cell Phones and BYOT. She has trained teachers and taught language learners in over 20 countries as an invited guest expert by organizations, like UNESCO Bangkok, Cultura Inglesa of Brazil, the British Council in Tel Aviv, IATEFL Slovenia, HUPE Croatia, the IATEFL YLTSIG, and VenTESOL. She is the instructional designer for American TESOL’s Teaching with Technology certification course, the Instituto Nacional de Tecnologías Educativas y de Formación de Profesorado’s Digital Storytelling for Teachers certification course, ITDI’s Learning to Go course, and eTextbook Teachers.

Michele Eaton, Director of Virtual and Blended Learning at MSD of Wayne Township (IN)

Michele is the Director of Virtual and Blended Learning for the M.S.D. of Wayne Township in Indianapolis, Indiana. She focuses on staff and course development for Achieve Virtual Education Academy and provides leadership for the district’s blended initiatives. Michele is a CoSN CETL and 2016 Next Generation Leader, 2018 EdWeek Leader to Learn From, Past President of the ISTE Online Learning Network, IUPUI online instructor, Conference Chair for the Indiana Connected Educators organization, member of the EdTech Heroes, and moderator for the #INeLearn chat.

Dr. Rob Abel, Chief Executive Officer of the IMS Global Learning Consortium

Dr. Rob Abel is the Chief Executive Officer of the IMS Global Learning Consortium, a nonprofit collaboration of the world’s leading universities, school districts, government organizations, content providers, and technology suppliers, cooperating to accelerate learning technology interoperability, adoption, and impact. Rob has been the CEO of IMS since February of 2006.

Adrian K. Acosta, Instructional Technology Director, Houston ISD (TX)

Adrian holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Houston. Prior to becoming an educator, Mr. Acosta worked in the chemical and energy sector specializing in technical marketing and research and development. Since joining HISD in 2010, Adrian has served as a secondary science teacher, campus instructional technologist, senior education technology specialist and currently is the Instructional Technology Director. Throughout his various roles, he has strived to provide teachers the tools needed to create innovative learning environments. His most current endeavor, the Google for Education project, has brought collaboration tools to teachers and students across the district.

Angela Burgess, Instructional Technology Specialist for Forsyth County Public Schools (GA)

Angela Burgess is a French teacher turned Instructional Technology Specialist in Forsyth County, GA working with middle and high schools ITSs and teachers. She is a Google Certified Educator: Level 2 who is passionate about innovation in education and about teaching new things to students of all ages.

Beatriz Arnillas, Senior Educational Advisor, itslearning and former Director of IT – Education Technology for the Houston Independent School District.

Beatriz Arnillas is a Senior Educational Advisor at itslearning and acts as a consultant for both our internal teams and customers interested in implementing learning-centered education. Previously, Beatriz was the Director of Education Technology for Houston Independent School District where she led the implementation of PowerUp, a district-wide blended learning initiative that continues to transform Houston’s teaching and learning practices, improving student engagement and end-of-course passing scores.

Josh Hale, Chief Product Officer, itslearning

Josh joins itslearning from Invaluable.com, the world’s leading online marketplace for fine art, antiques and collectibles. In his 5+ years at Invaluable, Josh led the Product, Design & UX teams, with responsibilities across a diverse set of web properties and software solutions. Prior to Invaluable, Josh held various leadership roles over 12+ years at BuyerZone.com, a startup from the late 90s that survived the aughts’ dot-com boom and bust to become a healthy and profitable Internet company. BuyerZone was acquired in 2007 by Reed Business Information, a division of RELX Group.

Nick Williams, Coordinator of Instructional Technology for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (IN)

Nick Williams is the Coordinator of Instructional Technology at Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation in Indiana. Nick taught high school Science in the district for 12 years before moving into his current role. Nick’s work at BCSC has directly supported the district-wide focus on UDL, or Universal Design for Learning, and he has helped lead their technology training committee, TIE. He holds monthly laptop lunches for staff and trains them on new technology and updates to existing technology.

Krystal Weiss, EdTech Facilitator for Spring Branch ISD (TX)

Krystal Weiss is an EdTech Facilitator for Spring Branch ISD in Houston, Texas. A former fourth grade teacher, Krystal now proudly serves as a thought partner for teachers throughout the district to help them discover and implement their personal learning goals. Ask Krystal about her thematic professional learning series that includes Curriculum Campouts, Rangers, Trail Guides, and Learning Trails.

Monika Davis, Director of Virtual Learning and Instructional Technology for DeKalb County School District (GA)

Monika is the Director of Virtual Learning and Instructional Technology for DeKalb County School District where she gained experience launching a virtual learning academy. Monika’s work directly supports the district’s mission to prepare students for success in the 21st Century, by providing targeted professional development, designing and developing digital age learning experiences and assessments, modeling digital age work and learning, and promoting and modeling digital citizenship and responsibility.

Pete Just, Chief Technology Officer/Chief Operations Officer for MSD of Wayne Township (IN)

Pete is the Chief Technology Officer/Chief Operations Officer for MSD of Wayne Township. Formerly a biology teacher, Pete taught high school science and media for thirteen years. Convinced that technology has the power to be an equalizer and empower learners, he implements technology initiatives that focus on the core of education – our classrooms. Involved in the launch of Indiana’s first online school in 1999 and additional online and blended programs including the recent launch of Achieve Virtual Education Academy in 2010, he has an understanding of what it takes to make a school successful online. He also has led the township’s technology application of UDL by creating digital learning spaces of all thousand district classrooms. With the support of his team, the MSD of Wayne Township has successfully created environments to allow students multiple pathways to graduation and enabling long-term successes.
