Four German states have partnered with itslearning in a 2.5-year development project, demonstrating their commitment to transforming digital learning.
[Bergen, 14.11.24] – In a step toward advancing digital education, the German states of Bremen, Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and Berlin have partnered with itslearning. Together, they aim to modernise K-12 and vocational education, establishing a new standard for integrating technology into learning across Germany.
Part of the “Digital Pact for Schools,” this 2.5-year development initiative focuses on creating a connected and adaptable learning environment. The states’ commitment to itslearning underscores their dedication to leveraging technology for quality education.
“This partnership is about more than just technology; it’s about making meaningful change in education. By addressing the real needs of teachers and students, we aim to create a future where digital learning empowers every classroom.”
Stephan Delkus, Head of Sales itslearning Germany
Key development areas
The project will enhance accessibility, improve mobile experiences, and introduce a unified course catalogue, allowing students to explore courses beyond their own schools. A tailored interface for primary education will better support younger learners.
Dr. Katharina Heitmann-Werner, project coordinator for the participating states, noted: “We’ve identified these development areas through close collaboration with school representatives. By working with educators, we’re delivering practical solutions that meet real classroom needs.”The custom-designed interface for primary schools is expected to improve adoption and the digital experience for younger students.
“By bringing together itslearning, education ministry representatives and schools, we aim to get to the heart of the specific requirements of teaching in a digital world and to respond accordingly, for example by adapting itslearning more precisely to the needs of primary school pupils“.
Dr. Katharina Heitmann-Werner, Project Coordinator for the participating states
Shaping the future of education
This partnership reflects a commitment to enhancing education through innovative solutions. For students, it offers access to diverse courses and flexible learning options. For educators, it provides a dynamic platform for personalised teaching and cross-state collaboration.
“The initiative enables new collaborative opportunities across state lines, offering shared courses and training that were previously only available in limited, manual formats. This approach has the potential to significantly impact how educational resources are accessed and utilised.”
Arne Ruhe, Section head at the Ministry for Children and Education Bremen
