Schools given alternative scalable LMS amid ongoing pandemic challenges
Bergen, Feb 10, 2021 – Schools in Berlin can from today begin using the itslearning platform. The Norwegian-built learning management system has been made available to students and teachers alongside the city state’s existing platform Lernraum Berlin (Berlin Learning Space). The agreement was signed by the Berlin Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family Affairs late Monday. With the support of the itslearning platform the city state can now push forward with its plan for the sustainable development of schools, teaching and remote learning during the coronavirus pandemic.

A purpose-built learning platform to empower teachers and students
With itslearning, schools have access to a learning management system that can be customized to fit their pedagogical processes – from implementation and planning, to the evaluation of student progress. Students and teachers will be able to seamlessly access educational materials anywhere and anytime with the mobile-friendly platform.
itslearning also supports personalized and self-directed learning, blended/remote teaching, as well as professional development training programs.
Being based in Europe, with a strong focus on data security, GDPR, and scalability - itslearning is now the preferred paid European LMS. The platform has been recently adopted by many German federal states and cities including Bremen, Baden Württemberg, Schleswig-Holstein, and Düsseldorf.
Accelerated mission to provide remote learning
The German capital acted fast at the start of the year and announced that it would provide all schools with itslearning as the alternative digital learning environment after experiencing serious problems with its existing solution Lernraum Berlin.
The LMS will be initially made available to 50,000 users in the first phase, and subsequently expanded to a total of 400,000 students and teachers. This deal will include user licenses, the Big Blue Button video conferencing tool, project management, training and integrations.
