Norwegian schools seek tools built for learning – Brattvåg Secondary School chooses itslearning

PRESS RELEASE

Norwegian schools seek tools built for learning. Brattvåg Secondary School chooses itslearning, Bergen, Norway, 19 May 2026.

Brattvåg, a secondary school in the Norwegian municipality Haram, will begin using the learning platform itslearning from 1 June. The transition follows experiences with general collaboration tools not adequately meeting the school's needs for teaching, assessment and systematic follow-up of students. The platform will be fully in use from the start of the new school year in August.

The school had previously used Microsoft Teams for sharing teaching content and communication. This created challenges related to structure, overview and coherence in the pedagogical work – particularly in planning, progression and reporting.

"We have wanted a tool built specifically for schools for a long time, and now we have one. With itslearning, our teachers will finally have one unified platform where teaching, follow-up and assessment connect naturally. It will be easier to maintain an overview, easier to report, and easier to follow each individual student over time”

Lars Flem Åkre,
Principal at Brattvåg

He also highlights the importance of the platform being adapted to the Norwegian school environment:

“We are confident that we have chosen a partner that truly understands Norwegian schools, with pedagogical support based in Norway. We will be ready from the start of the new school year in August, and we genuinely look forward to the difference itslearning will make for learning at Brattvåg ungdomsskule."

itslearning is a Norwegian-developed learning platform used in primary and secondary education across a number of European countries. The company is headquartered in Bergen and has been developing digital tools for teaching and learning since 1999.

"Schools need more than a communication tool; they need a platform that supports teaching, assessment and the day-to-day follow-up of students. Brattvåg ungdomsskule has taken a strategic approach to understanding what their teachers and students actually need, and chosen a learning platform developed specifically for this purpose. We look forward to working closely with the school when they go live this autumn,"

Ingrid Jakobsen,
Commercial Director, itslearning
