Measures to support accessibility

itslearning takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of our platform:

  • We have a dedicated accessibility team tasked with improving accessibility in our platform
  • We include accessibility considerations throughout our internal policies
  • We provide continuous accessibility training for our staff
  • We assign clear accessibility targets and responsibilities

 

Status

itslearning is designed to be compliant with WCAG 2.1 level AA.

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) detail accessibility requirements for product designers and developers. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

Although our goal is WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, we have also applied some Level AAA Success Criteria. For example, our UI components are created to support both AA and AAA color contrast standards.

 

How we test for accessibility

Our principal method of assessment is through rigorous internal evaluation where we test a representative selection of pages and functionality in itslearning. Our approach is based on recommendations from the W3C Web Accessibility Iniative. Issues that are found are logged and fixed as soon as possible. The last internal evaluation was performed in January 2023.
An external evaluation was performed by Funka in January 2019.
Our accessibility statement is updated whenever we make changes and improvements that impact the overall results, and reflects the current status. There may be violations of the guidelines in pages we have not tested, and we appreciate your feedback so those errors can be corrected as soon as possible.

 

WCAG 2.1 Guidelines

Principle 1: Perceivable

Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive.

Criteria Comments
1.3.1 Info and Relationships Some headlines and forms are not compliant. This will be corrected in 2024.
1.4.1 Use of Color Some pages use colour to convey information. This will be corrected in 2024.
1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) Some pages have text with low contrast. This will be corrected in 2024.
1.4.4 Resize text Changing the text-size can lead to problems reading text in an input field on one page. This will be corrected in 2024.
1.4.10 Reflow Some pages have older user-interface components that are less than optimal when the page is magnified 400% and above. This will be corrected in 2024.
1.4.11 Non-text Contrast Some user-interface components does not have high enough contrast. This will be corrected in 2024.

 

Principle 2: Operable

User interface components and navigation must be operable.

Criteria Comments
2.1.1 Keyboard The Calendar and edit user-profile pages contain functionality that cannot be operated using keyboard alone. This will be corrected in 2024.
2.4.2 Page Titled Some pages do not have an informative description. This will be corrected in 2024.
2.4.3 Focus Order The Calendar has a focus order that in certain workflows may appear out of order.
2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) Some pages have linked images without alternative text and text in links that are not descriptive enough. This will be corrected in 2024.
2.4.5 Multiple Ways Some content in itslearning is not discoverable by means other than the menu.
2.4.6 Headings and Labels Some pages have hidden headlines without content that makes it difficult to understand the page. This will be corrected in 2024.
2.4.7 Focus Visible Some deprecated user-interface components have missing or less-than-ideal focus indicators. This will be corrected in 2024.

 

Principle 3: Understandable

Information and the operation of user interface must be understandable.

3.2.2 On Input Some pages change considerably after form changes.
3.3.4 Error Prevention (Legal, Financial, Data) In our test tool, tests with forward-only navigation will not pass this criteria.

 

 

Compatibility with Browsers and Assistive Technology

itslearning is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Chrome with Jaws on Windows
  • Firefox with NVDA on Windows
  • Safari with Voice Over on macOS
