In Bømlo municipality, the use of the learning platform varied, and based on low usage in primary schools in particular, the municipality decided to terminate the overall agreement with itslearning. But for secondary schools, the needs were very different.
After a brief needs analysis, the secondary schools decided to join forces and work to continue the learning platform. For secondary school teachers, the use of assessment tools is particularly important. The fact that the platform is adapted to Norwegian schools and is continuously renewed also has a lot to say for an effective everyday school life.
Principal Christin Klubben at Bremnes Ungdomsskule explains that tools such as Office 365 and pure study management systems do not meet their needs. "At secondary schools, we need a platform that supports learning and especially assessment. We can't manage in a school day consisting of Vigilo and Office 365," says the principal, and continues "itslearning is specifically developed for schools, and the other systems are not. In addition, the platform has undergone a major boost during the pandemic and the subject renewal has been integrated in a very good way.", she explains

Fagfornyelsen is the name of the process of developing and introducing new curricula in the Knowledge Promotion Act, with all schools adopting new curricula from the fall of 2020.
The way forward
Now that the platform has been re-elected, the focus for schools is to take advantage of the tools available in the best possible way and increase the use of itslearning among both teachers and students.
"There are many features in itslearning that can make everyday school life easier for both teachers and students, so we need to promote the use of the platform. This is a great learning platform that will make our school better, but we need to make sure that our teachers receive adequate training," concludes the principal.
Educational consultants from itslearning will in the future work with the secondary schools in Bømlo municipality on training and making the best possible use of the learning platform.
