PRESS RELEASE
Alta Municipality Selects itslearning as learning platform (LMS) for all schools. All 16 schools in the municipality to adopt itslearning from the start of the school year.
itslearning has been awarded the LMS contract for Alta Municipality in northern Norway. The agreement covers all 16 K-12 schools in the municipality, supporting approximately 3,000 students and teachers across both primary and secondary levels. With this decision, the municipality moves to a platform built specifically for learning.
The contract was awarded following a competitive multi-stage procurement process involving tender rounds, negotiations, and live demonstrations. itslearning achieved the highest overall score for quality ahead of four competing vendors. Decisive factors included the platform's education-focused design and ease of use, its guardian portal connecting home and school, and strong data security and integration capabilities.
itslearning will be used across all school levels. For younger students on the primary level, the municipality will make use of Class, a feature designed specifically to give younger learners an age-appropriate structure and navigation experience. Tove Knudsen, Head of Education at Alta Municipality, emphasised that pedagogical soundness was central to the decision;
“We needed a learning platform that supports the entire primary and lower secondary years and gives every student the same digital school experience, no matter which school they attend. It had to be intuitive and easy to use, so that teaching can stay fully focused on pedagogy. At the same time, we wanted a solution that strengthens the connection between teachers, students, and guardians”.
Tove Knudsen,
Head of Education at Alta Kommune
"This partnership means a great deal to us. Across the European markets where we operate, we see signs of a shift towards platforms built specifically for learning.
Schools and municipalities are placing increasing weight on pedagogical quality and on data privacy. At the same time, we see that questions of digital sovereignty, and where data is actually stored, are becoming ever more important in public procurement. Alta's decision is a strong signal that this matters. We look forward to working closely with the municipality and to supporting their teachers and students every step of the way."
